A little tentatively, I went for my first keiko in nearly 3 weeks after the injury. And it was good. The foot was fine, didn’t play up during practise at all, and didn’t really come back afterwards either. It was “there” but not painful. Thank god. Iced it up just in case though. I reckon I’m going to be on the taping, stretching and icing gig for a long time, probably at least until after the world champs. At least.
At any rate, it felt awesome being back at keiko. I got a great men in a stupidly long ippon shoubu (15 minutes….) with Yasui sensei, a big young nanadan who always gives me a great bash (loves a chin wag after keiko though…) which is always a great morale booster, and helps dispel the “What if I’ve forgotten it all and become shite” worries. I have lost a huge chunk of stamina though so I’m going to need to work to get that back. Poo.
